Introduction to Diamond Micropowder

Diamond micro powder, as a superhard abrasive with super strong grinding ability, is increasingly valued in developed countries. The grinding ability of diamond micro powder includes its own wear resistance and wear resistance, as well as the grinding ability of the workpiece, which depends on its particle size, hardness, strength, thermal and chemical stability, and particle shape.
Diamond micro powder refers to diamond particles with a particle size less than 60 microns. There are two types of diamond powder: single crystal diamond powder and polycrystalline diamond powder.
1. Single crystal diamond micro powder is made by grinding artificial diamond single crystal abrasive particles through a special processing method.
2. Polycrystalline diamond micro powder is made from graphite through a unique directional sandblasting method. The shock wave of high explosive directional blasting accelerates the flying metal plate, impacts the graphite plate, and converts the graphite into polycrystalline diamond.
Diamond micro powder has high hardness and good wear resistance, and can be widely used in cutting, grinding, drilling, etc. It is an ideal raw material for grinding and polishing hard alloys, ceramics, gemstones, and optical glasses. Diamond micro powder products are components and tools made by processing diamond micro powder.
As far as the particle size is concerned, diamond micropowder belongs to submicron, micron and nanometer powders. Compared with coarse powder, diamond micro powder has significantly increased surface functional groups and surface area, and the interaction between particles has significantly increased. In addition, as the particle size is refined, the particle strength will inevitably increase and the inherent defects will decrease. It can be seen that the production process of diamond micro powder is quite difficult. It is not only a process of particle refinement, but also accompanied by changes in crystal structure and surface physicochemical properties. So the production process of diamond micro powder involves multidisciplinary engineering and technical issues in powder engineering, mechanics, physical chemistry, mechanics, detection technology, and modern instruments.
